Here, the colours used are Cadmium Red, Pthalo Blue, Cobalt Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, Cadmium Yellow & Titanium White. Colours are applied using mixed technique; scumbling, impasto and dabbing. This is one of Monet’s early paintings, using a pre-impressionist style; the rendition is akin to the contemporary style done by his peers. The mood is sombre and scene focussed on the vanishing point where the lane turns slightly, it is like a moment captured by a man set on a long journey.
