Acrylic on Canvas by NOREEN MULLA
Reproduction of The Manneport Cliff 1882, Claude Monet (1840-1926)
With a colour palette of Cadmium Red, Pthalo Blue, Cobalt Blue, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, Cadmium Yellow, Permanent Rose & Titanium White, I have recreated a scene of a cliff at Manneport, France. The play of early morning light and the colours reflected on the cliff-side and immediate sea is a fascinating subject for any impressionist artist. The cliff stands tall and calm and the sea is in turmoil; two tiny figures under the cliff are witness to the violence of the wind in this otherwise calm composition. Here Monet has begun to experiment with his impressionistic inclinations.
