Dunja’s mind and heart have a close relationship to forms, colors and texture. Her paintings are abstract, colorful experiential filters that reflect a sense of personal and profound experiences at every level of being as an individual and as a woman. Dunja’s work in both disciplines, painting, and fashion design, is a reflection and an exploration of spiritual, emotional and mental states. The paintings create a presence that seeks to engage viscerally and liberate the intellect as does meditation. The artist works with acrylics, glitter, and other reflective materials on canvas.
Dunja hails from a family tradition of European bespoke tailoring in Germany. She attended the College for Design in Hanover, Germany and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Bremen, Germany. Dunja studied textile design and production with a focus on Fair Trade in Chennai, India. After moving to the US, she created her own, all sizes inclusive fashion label Amiiee New York. She currently lives in NYC and creates her art pieces as well as her designs from her studio in Manhattan, NY.
