Harini Kumar is a well-known artist among the art community in Muscat, Oman. Harini Kumar is a well-known artist among the art community in Muscat, Oman. She works with a variety of mediums such as oils, acrylics, charcoal, pen, and ink etc. with themes ranging from realistic to semi-abstract. Being a resident of Oman, her paintings reflect the Arab culture and tradition rendered in her unique personal style. She is a lover of nature and many of her paintings have nature as the theme portrayed in a colourful, vibrant, semi-abstract fashion. She has a special interest in contemporary art – with the use of different media in combination with acrylic paints.
Harini Kumar is a Fine Arts Graduate from Stella Maris College, Chennai. After graduating she worked as a freelance illustrator for school books and magazines for various publications. She moved to Muscat, Oman in 1994, and subsequently worked as a graphic designer for a number of years but the world of paints, brushes, and canvases was always beckoning.
Having been an art enthusiast all her life, she has rediscovered her love for painting and is currently following her true passion. She has participated in a number of different workshops and art events in Oman, Greece, UAE, India and the USA.
Among her various art projects, the large commissioned painting for the National Law School – Bangalore, India, is noteworthy. She was honoured by the respected vice-chancellor and the faculty members of the college for her artwork which hangs in the Law Library of the college.
Another interesting project were the illustrations done for the twin musicians Sruti and Sahana Kumar for their book ‘The Celnatic Experience’, which was well appreciated.
She is regularly commissioned for original paintings by art lovers from USA, Oman, and India.
