Joe Barros

Joe Barros Chaparro was born in Mexico City in the winter of 1971. He studied graphic design at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana. His first paintings and prints date back from the ’90s when he also participated in several group exhibitions. In a certain way his art enthusiasm was released from design, one day suddenly no reason with, he started to paint, he got that impulse as an order by the life itself to be realized through him into the form, he became into that nature intelligence instrument which rules on him as his inner resolution.

“There is a vibe that occurs when I paint. It’s always there during the full process and is precisely what I want to share to the beholder; such that vibration is when conscience arises and dictates to me what needs to be painted. That is the mission to perform and to be accomplished once the idea emerges until the very last stroke when I'm signing the finished artwork.”

List of past exhibitions:

• Group exhibition during the Art Dubai week on March 28 – April 4, 2018 (3 works submitted)
• First solo exhibition entitled “Presencias” in ‘Gallery 76’ from September 22 to October 1, 2018, with the visit of the Hon. Mexican Ambassador Francisca Elizabeth Méndez Escobar.
• Group exhibition in the week of Art Dubai from March 16-23, 2019. Participation with three works.
• Exhibitor at the WORLD ART DUBAI 2019 fair from April 3 to 6, 2019 at the facilities of the Dubai World Trade Center. Exhibiting for the first time as an emerging artist within the “Solo wall artist” space as the only Mexican artist.
• Group exhibition “Celebrating Ramadan” from May 11 to 28 in Gallery 76 at DIAC (Dubai International Art Center). Participation with three works.
• Participation in the “Mediterranean Contemporary Art Prize 2019” contest organized by the Porta Coeli Foundation in Lagopesole Castle, province of the city of Potenza, Italy; from July 18 to 28, where he obtained participation certificate and inclusion in the exhibition catalogue. It is noteworthy that out of all the entire protocol of the event and unexpectedly a private collector through a phone call acquired the painting exhibited, “Death hex.” Which is now part of a private collection in the city of Potenza, Italy.
• Group Exhibition “Year of Tolerance”, 100 leading artist tribute to UAE at the opening of 2XL Furniture and Home Decor showroom, from September 14 to 18. Four works were submitted.

So far some of my paintings belong to several private collectors in Dubai, UAE; Potenza, Italy and Monterrey and Mexico City in Mexico.
